Spreadsheets are excellent, and most of the ones running Australian businesses should be left exactly where they are. The question is not whether a spreadsheet is professional. It is whether this particular one has quietly become a system that several people depend on and nobody can safely change.
There are specific symptoms, and they are worth checking honestly before spending anything.
The build is usually the smaller half. The larger half is the data: years of accumulated rows with inconsistent formats, duplicates and the occasional note typed into a number column. Cleaning and migrating that is real work and should be in the quote rather than discovered later.
If one person maintains it, the data is not sensitive, and a mistake is recoverable, a spreadsheet is the right tool and software is an expensive downgrade in flexibility. We will tell you when that is what we think.
A single tool starts at A$1,500. The variable is almost always the data migration rather than the screens.
For a transition period, yes, though running both permanently reintroduces the problem you were solving. Usually the tool exports to Excel so reporting habits survive.
