SaaS Product Development

We build our own subscription products as well as clients', which mostly means we have already made the expensive mistakes: billing edge cases, trials that end at awkward moments, and the difference between a demo and something that can take money reliably.

A SaaS build is less about features than about the machinery underneath them - separating one customer's data from another's, handling a failed payment without locking someone out unfairly, and knowing what happens when a subscription lapses mid-session.

What a SaaS build actually includes

The parts people underestimate

Team seats, proration, dunning and refunds are where a first SaaS build usually runs over. So is the admin side: you need to be able to see and fix a customer's account without a database client.

What it costs

Web applications start at A$1,500 and run six to twelve weeks; a full product with billing sits toward the upper end. Over A$10,000 the work is milestone-based.

Common questions

Do you use Stripe?

Yes, for our own products and for client builds. It handles the payment side; the work is in making your application and Stripe agree about subscription state.

Can you build on our existing product?

Yes. Adding billing, team accounts or an access gate to something that already exists is a common piece of work.

Who owns the product?

You do - code, data and Stripe account.
